Getting Ready for the Flu Season: The Naturopathic Approach

by Anna Bunda B.A., N.D.

Now that summer has passed all are looking toward new beginnings. There are many health concerns that are put up to the challenge even more in the fall and winter months. In particular, naturopathy can address the immune system in relation to recurrent infections, flu and colds in our children and in ourselves. Naturopathic doctors look towards changing this pattern and to bring the individual towards their optimal health potential. This potential is within all of us and it just needs to be unleashed through gentle yet effective support.

Food intolerances can be a major factor in relation to a lowered immune capability. It is essential for these to be assessed and then eliminated for a period of time. Our next step would be to look at other possible deficiencies in the patients system. A treatment plan is developed according to the specific needs of the patient at this time.

ADD/ADHD, autism or basically any condition where there is disturbance in the system, food intolerance assessment is helpful and necessary. Again aggravating foods and nutrient deficiencies can have a large impact on emotional and mental functioning.
