"Red Is The Color Of My True Love's ... Doors??": |
by Dr. kac young
Red has carried powerful meanings and symbolism for peoples and cultures throughout history. In China, during the Chou Dynasty, Red was considered a sacred and a vitalizing color. Even today, brides still wear Red in China to bring them good luck in their marriage.
In Christian religions Red is the Christ color. It represents the body and blood of the physical Christ. The Anglican Church adopted Red doors in the 16th century to denote a sanctuary within. This was most definitely a carry-over from the Chinese belief in the sacredness of Red. Most of us are familiar with everyday Red as the color of the life blood within us all, that which supplies us with energy, vigor, health and life itself.
In Feng Shui, when there is just enough Red in our lives we are centered. Red grounds us, it denotes health as it flows and courses through our physical and spiritual veins and it is also the color of manifested abundance. Red is used in the Fame & Reputation sector of the Bagua as well as in the Wealth & Prosperity gua. Red is a color of attraction and dynamic presence.
We have painted our doors at SpiritWorks to adopt both the physical and the metaphysical meanings of the color Red.
As a physical color we are claiming that the life within these walls is abundant, life giving, nurturing and plentiful. We are also denoting that within these walls dwells a sacred space for spiritual growth and harmonious living. We claim all of this and more for ourselves as a community guided by Spirit by actively engaging the power of the color Red.
